I graduated from Northern Illinois University (NIU) with a Master of Science in Child and Family Studies, with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy, in spring of 2016. During my graduate program, I worked at the Couple and Family Therapy Clinic at NIU helping individuals, couples, and families to address a variety of relational and mental health issues including anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, and acting out behaviors in children. I also have experience facilitating child and adolescent groups through the use of therapeutic interventions that incorporate outdoor activities such as rock climbing, canoeing, orienteering, and archery.

As a graduate student, I was drawn to CBT because of its goal-oriented and systematic approach that still allowed me to foster a warm and collaborative relationship with clients based upon their individual needs. I found that CBT’s evidence based approach provided clients with concrete tools that allowed them to reduce and manage symptoms with long lasting results in a short period of time.

My interest and passion in CBT is what drew me working at the Center. Additionally, I lived in the Sonoma area for over 6 years before leaving for Illinois to pursue my graduate studies. I am deeply committed to serving the community I love so much and am excited that the Center provides me with the perfect vehicle for this pursuit. I am receiving intensive training on the treatment of Anxiety Disorders, including Social Anxiety Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, as well as Insomnia and Habit Disorders, including skin picking and hair pulling. I am also receiving advanced training in helping parents to manage their young children’s energetic and disruptive behaviors using Parent-Child Interaction Therapy. I am a registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern, working towards licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist, under the supervision of Litsa R. Tanner, MFT.

I am a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, and am committed to continuing my professional development through trainings and workshops offered by professional therapist organizations.
