ANXIETY DISORDERS

PANIC DISORDER
  • Feeling frightened for no apparent reason
  • Experiencing physical sensations such as a racing heart, dizziness, and shortness of breath
  • Having fears of going crazy, dying, or losing control
  • Experiencing a fear of leaving home or going to specific places such as grocery stores
  • Feeling trapped or having a panic attack

GENERALIZED ANXIETY DISORDER, (GAD)
  • Worrying frequently and at length
  • Having worries that are hard to control
  • Experiencing physical symptoms such as stomachaches and headaches

SOCIAL PHOBIA or Social Anxiety Disorder
  • Uncomfortable shyness
  • Fear of doing or saying something embarrassing
  • Avoidance of social events or conversations with people

SPECIFIC PHOBIA
  • Fear and avoidance of specific places like elevators, heights, or water
  • Fear and avoidance of certain animals or insects
  • Unreasonable fear of needles or blood
  • Fear of vomiting

OBSESSIVE-COMPULSIVE DISORDER (OCD)
  • Intrusive, unpleasant, and unwanted thoughts
  • Fear of contamination, harm to self or others
  • The need for exactness or symmetry
  • The need to repeat a certain action though you know it is silly or doesn’t make sense

POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER (PTSD)
  • Intense fear, helplessness, or avoidance in response to a traumatic event

SEPARATION ANXIETY (Most commonly seen in children)
  • Fear of being away from parents
  • Fear of sleeping alone
  • Refusal to go to school, participate in sports, or stay overnight at a friend’s house
  • In adults, a fear of being away from a partner or of being alone

INSOMNIA
