Kim Harris, LMFT Staff Therapist

707-545-4600 ext. 5

I graduated from The Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA, with a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology in September 2019 and completed licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist in 2021. Before joining the Santa Rosa Center for Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, I worked at a local community mental health agency serving individuals 5-24 years old and their families. I gained experience helping those with various mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, attachment disruptions, PTSD, ADHD, and other behavioral problems. I have experience leading group therapy focused on communication skills, loss, grief, and cognitive-behavioral therapy.

I am drawn to Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy because of its systematic and goal-oriented approach while simultaneously allowing for a warm and collaborative relationship. As a therapist, CBT is appealing because of its evidence-based status and overall treatment success with longer-lasting symptom relief. I appreciate helping equip individuals with tools to reduce and manage their specific distressing symptoms. It is rewarding to watch my clients gain the confidence to use the tools outside of sessions and become their own best therapist.

I started my work at The Santa Rosa Center for Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy in 2019 as an associate therapist in the center’s intensive training program. During my two years in the program, I received intensive training in the treatment of Anxiety Disorders, including Social Anxiety Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. I also received training in the treatment of Insomnia and Habit Disorders, including skin picking and hair pulling. After successfully completing the training program, I was excited to have the opportunity to stay on as a licensed staff therapist. I continue to consult regularly with experts in the field and attend trainings in the application and use of CBT as often as possible to continue my education and ability to provide the best service possible to my clients.

I am a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and The Northern California Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Network. I am committed to continuing my professional development through training and workshops offered by professional therapist organizations.
